1/0 gauge wire is great for wiring up your alternative energy system. It is a good choice for:

Wiring multiple batteries in series or in parallel to make a battery bank
Connecting a DC to AC inverter to a battery bank

Don't use wire that is too thin for the application. It is dangerous (fire hazard) and you will lose an enormous amount of power (Watts) in the wire! 1/0 gauge wire can safely handle 200 amps at continuous duty. For a 24 volt battery bank, this is about 5600 Watts.
