These wind turbine blades are designed to spin very fast! For those of you who are building your own small wind turbines from Ametek motors, treadmill motors and other types of permanent magnet generators that require high rpm's, these blades are a good choice. If you live in a low wind area and need to get your permanent magnet alternator/generator up to charging voltage, then these are your BEST choice!

Five-blade rotors may perform better in low wind conditions due to the increased surface area from a five-blade rotor versus three. It is important to remember, however, that 5-blade rotors will not perform as efficiently at higher wind speeds due to the increased drag. Consider using five-blade rotors when you are optimizing your generator for operation in challenging low wind environments!

These blades are perfect if you already have a 5-blade hub or if you're interested in adapting our TurboTorque blades to your own hub!

What is included?

1. Five (5) TurboTorque aluminum wind turbine blades. The blades are about 5 inches wide at their widest and 24 inches in length (diameter of swept area is about 52 inches with the hub). These are CNC manufactured with a dimensional tolerance of 0.005 inches. They are perfectly balanced, and spin very smooth. Material is aircraft-grade aluminum, they are light, strong and will not rust.
2. (optional) An ultra-strong, precision-machined, stainless steel hub. Our hubs are 0.1875 inches thick and about 8 inches in diameter. The center hole is available in 1/2 inch or 17 mm diameters, making it a cinch to adapt to most common DIY motors and PMAs, or with an arbor. You can even drill out the hub to fit almost any shaft. Already have a hub? No problem, you can select a "No Hub" option below.!
3. Mounting hardware. There are 15 sets of stainless steel nuts, bolts and washers.

Please note that these blades are not designed to withstand sustained hurricane force winds. Every wind turbine should have a mechanism in place--such as a furling vane--which protects your generator from wind speeds exceeding 35-40 mph. These blades are designed to withstand extreme wind gusts, not sustained conditions.
